Obituary for Joseph D. "Joe" Gilley

West Enfield – Joseph D. “Joe” Gilley, 30, died Saturday, November 7, 2020. He was born August 19, 1990 in Lincoln, the son of Daniel and Nancy (Hallett) Gilley.

Joe grew up in West Enfield, and was a graduate of Penobscot Valley High School, class of 2008. Joe loved his brother and sisters, as well as his nieces and nephews. He was always asking and wondering what they were all doing, and was very happy for all their successes in life. He was a natural athlete, scholar, and musician. He played 5 years in Little League as a Yankee and in later years he loved keeping up with the Red Sox with his Nama. We were ALL envious of his intellect as he hardly ever studied. Joe was a Certified Computer Tech, graduating from Northern Maine Community College with Highest Honors. Joe had a very caring heart and showed it a lot when he was with his favorite cat, Lucy.

In addition to his parents, Joe is survived by his Nama, Dawn Gilley: three sisters, Hannah Smith and Al, Rebekah Gilley and Chris, and Grace Gilley and Chris; a brother, Ben Gilley: eight nieces and nephews, Ashlyn, Kam, Nathan, Noah, Ethan, Collin, Luci, and Willa-Mae; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous friends. Joe was predeceased by his Bampa, Raymond Gilley, Jr., and maternal grandparents Margaret and Wallace Hallett, Sr.

Graveside services will be held 11 AM Saturday, November 14 at the Howland Cemetery. Joe spent many happy hours with the Howland Recreation Department playing Little League, and the family requests gifts in his memory be sent to benefit the baseball programs there, care of the Howland Recreation Department, (address). Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, Lincoln.
