Obituary for John F. Dicentes

Millinocket - John F. Dicentes, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and
friend died on June 30, 2022. He died in his sleep at the Eastside Center for
Health and Rehabilitation in Bangor Maine. The son of Dominic J. DiCentes a
WWII Veteran from Millinocket Maine. He was a resident of Millinocket Maine
since 1939. Mr. DiCentes was born on April 10, 1939. He was a Military Police
officer in the US Army during the late 1950’s. He continued after the love of his
life Barbara Ramsey, wife, passed away over a years ago. He lived with her on
Congress Street, and many would say he died of a broken heart. John worked
for the Great Northern Paper Company which became Bowater for 34 years. He
was a machinist and millwright with many skills & amp; craft certifications, including
craftsman III. He was the president of Local 156 for 21 years. He served as
chairman of the trades bargaining unit team. He was co-chairman of the union
management executive safety & health council for 15 years. He was a 20-year
safety committee member and served as OSHA’s compliance officer. He was
appointed by Governor McKernan to the toxic’s reduction advisory committee
in 1990. He was a lifelong member of the Millinocket Elks Lodge 1521. John is
survived by son Dominic J DiCentes, daughter in-law Lisa DiCentes.
Granddaughters Shawna Dicentes and Jessica Trimmer. Grandson Kevin
Dicentes, Great Grandson Christopher Trimmer and Stepson Ken Mullin. You
would see John, always doing something to help the people of the Millinocket
area. Memorial services will be held on Saturday July 30th at 2:00 pm at the
Lamson Funeral Home 11 Tamarack St. Millinocket Me. 04462. Anyone wishing
to do donate in John’s name can do so at the Elks Lodge 1521 in Millinocket
Maine. The Elks have many charities that he loved. John will be greatly missed.
