Obituary for Joanne C. Cyr

Joanne C. Cyr
Millinocket and Sierra Vista, Arizona - Joanne Cecile Cyr, 56, passed away peacefully August 8, 2018 in a Tucson hospital with family members by her side. Joanne was born February 15, 1962 in Millinocket on February 15, 1962, the daughter of Edmond A. and Ruth N. (Daigle) Cyr.

She is survived by her siblings, David Cyr and his wife Elizabeth of Millinocket, Shirley Cyr-Lee and her husband Ron Lee of Hereford, AZ, Ronald Cyr of Millinocket, Louise Canning and her husband Dale of Eddington, Adam Cyr and his wife Rachel of Millinocket, and sister-in-law Lorene Cyr of Millinocket. She is also survived by a niece and nephews, Shawn, Ryan, Bradley, Steven and Jude. She is predeceased by her parents Edmond and Ruth Cyr and her brother Matthew Cyr of Millinocket.

After graduating from Stearns High School in 1980, Joanne moved to Bangor for a short time, then to North Hollywood, CA where she lived and worked for more than five years. She continued her adventures that later took her to Connecticut, Rhode Island and New Hampshire, before moving back to Maine to earn her associates degree at the University of Maine at Augusta. Joanne moved to Arizona in 1993 where she remained for the next 25 years. She was employed as a book store assistant manager and then a music and video store manager. She later owned and operated Angel’s Touch Painting, and for the last 11 years, proudly and successfully, owned and operated Superior Cleaning. Joanne found the most contentment just nestling in at home watching movies, playing video games or listening to music, in the company of her devoted cat, Thor. Joanne had an endless love for dogs and strived to have her own pack one day. Those who knew Joanne would agree that she was a kind, gentle and generous person, who had a big heart for helping people in need. She always saw the good in people. She was very independent, optimistic and incredibly brave in pursuing her dreams. Joanne will be greatly missed by her beloved family and friends.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 10-11 A.M. Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack Street, Millinocket, Maine, with memorial services beginning at 11.
