Obituary for Jessie Lee Barker (White)

Lincoln – Jessie Lee (White) Barker, 96, wife of the late Donald G. Barker, Sr., passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2020 in Lincoln. She was born April 2, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Jesse Lee and Phoebe V. (McCarthy) White.

Jessie was a graduate of Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, and worked at the Rosebowl, Bailey Drug, and retired from Merrill Trust Company in 1984. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Eucharist, St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church, past regent and member of the Daughters of Isabella, Legion of Mary, St. Mary’s Prayer Group, Eucharistic Minister and Mornery Lector, Treasurer of Lincoln Regular Food Cupboard, Past president and Chaplain of Avon D. Flanders V.F.W. Auxiliary, Beano at Knights of Columbus and a volunteer at Penobscot Valley Hospital. Jessie served as an election clerk for the town of Lincoln for over 33 years. Additionally, she was a member of the Penobscot Valley Hospital Auxiliary, Meals for Me, the Thrift Shop, RSVP, and the Red Hat Society. For her many hours of volunteer service, Jessie was honored with a Certificate of Recognition for Extraordinary Public Service, was a nominee for a WLBZ 2 Jefferson Award, was given a Certificate of Appreciation for 33 years as an Election Clerk from the Town of Lincoln, and was given the Home Town Heroes Award form the Woodsmen of America and the Golden Key Senior Center.

Jessie is survived by her beloved children, Donald G. Barker and his wife Robin, Jacqueline Libby and her husband Errol, Sr., Gary Barker and his wife Sandra, and Marjorie Wotton and her husband Lindy; very special grandchildren, Tim, Tina, Terri and Jonathan, Todd, Errol Jr. and Angela, Erin and Kristen, Shelly, John and Kathy, Jayme and Peter; great grandchildren, Thomas, Jacob, Joshua, Jared, Sarah, Aaron, Hunter, Dillon, Mackenzie, Tysen, Tressa, Katie, Hannah, Grace, Pius, Uma, Cheyenne, Dwight, Derek, Kayla, Bryan, Caitlyn, Coran, Christian, Desiree; special great great grandchildren, Sachea, JT, Alexandria, Cayde, Lucian, ; precious great great great grandchildren, Breanna, Michael, Madeline, and Athena; a sister in law, Mildred White; many special nieces and nephews, Kathy, John, Rene, Kevin, Jackie, Karol Ann, David, Danny, Robbie, Steve, Terri, Sarah, Sharon, Peggy, Patty, Jerry, Susan, Glenn, Ann, John, and Sherri Lynn; and close friends Doris, Mary Leah, Rena, Eileen, Sylvia, Leslie, Sarah, and Emmieleen. In addition to her husband and parents, Jessie was predeceased by a son, Robert Barker, a great grandson Justin Powers, and a brother, Jack White.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Eucharist, St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church, Lincoln, later in the summer when the pandemic restrictions have been eased. Interment will be at the Lincoln Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Jessie may be sent to the Ronald McDonald House, Penobscot Valley Humane Society, or to Our Lady of the Eucharist Catholic Parish.
