Obituary for Jenny L. Jackson

LINCOLN Jenny Jackson, 72, died on May 13, 2021, at Colonial Health Care in Lincoln, Maine. Jenny was born on November 24, 1948, to Barbara and Howard Guiggey of Sherman Station. The first daughter, Jenny became her mother’s helper and lifelong friend in a family of six children. To her siblings, both older and younger, she was a second mother.
After graduating from Sherman High School in 1967, Jenny attended D’Lor Beauty School in Brewer and became a licensed beautician. She worked in that profession in her own home as well as for other businesses. She also became a Certified Nurse’s Aide, working in homecare and later for KidsPeace.
All her life, Jenny’s greatest love was for her family. At her home in Sanford and Kennebunk, her door was always open for visits, meals, and celebrations. Her siblings fondly recall their summer trips to Jenny’s home in southern Maine where her generosity made it possible for them and their children to have summer vacations and go to Funtown Splashtown. A good cook from the time she was a little girl, Jenny prepared big meals for all of them: pizzas, baked beans and bread, birthday cake, pies, and whatever else anyone requested. She loved having them come to visit and hated to see them leave.
After more than 30 years living, raising her sons, and working in southern Maine, Jenny returned to her hometown in 2003 to help her parents and be closer to family. As her license plate read, she was happy to come “fullcircle.” Once again, she hosted suppers and birthday parties in her newly renovated home. Her family will remember her as strong, humble, and independent.
Jenny is survived by her son Trevor Hamel and wife Wendi; son Tadd Hamel; stepson Robert Hamel, Jr.; and five grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her sister Sally and husband Joe Long; brothers Wayne and wife Colleen; Tommy and wife Becky; Lonnie and companion Laurie Stratton; and Steve and wife Lorraine. In addition Jenny is survived by many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and countless friends, including special friends Barbie Delano and Lana Robinson. Jenny was predeceased by her parents, infant sister Stephanie, stepson Brian Hamel, and brother-in-law Guy Lane.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 22, at 2 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Sherman Station with Donis Willigar, Jr., officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages anyone who wishes to donate in Jenny’s memory to Colonial Health Care, 36 Workman Terrace, Lincoln, ME 04457. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home.
