Obituary for Jeanette J. King (Libby)

Lincoln – Jeanette Libby King, 83, took her first breath in heaven on Sunday, February 20, 2022, from her home in Lincoln, Maine.
She is the daughter of the late Robert and Amy (Ireland) Libby. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, George Russell King, and leaves behind her three daughters, Lori (John), Kerry (Randy) and Dolly (Rick, deceased). Also surviving are her brother, Walter, and sisters, Thelma and Roselyn, as well as twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Alvah and Robert as well as her sisters, Lorna, Gail, Virginia and Veda.
She was born in Lincoln on July 9,1938, and was raised there where she attended school. Jeanette owned and operated her own tax business as well as a greenhouse, The Green Thumb. She was also employed by J.J. Newberry’s and Bangor Savings Bank. She was a member of the Lincoln Historical Society where she served as its President for more than fifteen years. Jeanette was instrumental in moving The Little Red School to its current location as well as the purchase of the Corro House and the Clay House as properties of the Historical Society. Jeanette was an active member of the Church of God for more than sixty years and served in many capacities including Church Clerk, Sunday School Superintendent and Children’s Church leader.
She will be greatly missed by her cats, Prince and Pauper, and everyone will miss her world-famous molasses cookies!
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory can be made to the Lincoln Historical Society. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Lincoln.
