Obituary for Jean Bartlett McGowan

Millinocket - Jean Bartlett McGowan passed away March 6th 2019 at the age of 87 after a short illness.

Jean was born July 31, 1931, in Millinocket. She was the daughter of Joseph Bartlett and Grace Ragon Bartlett.

Jean was born in Millinocket and lived there her entire life, graduating from Stearns High School in 1950.

Jean was married to her beloved husband Dana McGowan for 67 years and together they raised 4 children in the house they built.

Jean was always very involved in her church especially the First Baptist Church in Millinocket where she was in the choir and played the piano and organ for services. She sold Avon for many years, did a lot of work for the class of 1950, and enjoyed many crafts including knitting, crocheting, ceramics and plastic canvas. Her family received many beautiful gifts that she made.

Jean loved her family and spending time with her children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, and extended family. She and her sister Natalie enjoyed going for rides in the car every day and never knew where they might end up.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Dana, her parents, her brothers Joseph, Arthur, and Paul as well as her sisters Geneva Bartlett, Amy Luce, Reta French, and Marion Latimer.

She is survived by her brother Wellman Bartlett and her sister Natalie Voisine, her children Linda Boynton, Dana Jr and his wife Brenda, Gary and wife Danette and Sarah, seven grandchildren Melanie Carter, Sean McGowan and wife Sabrina, Jennifer Bissonnette and husband Matt, Adam Boynton and wife Mikki, Lindsay Beaulieu and husband Peter, Jason McGowan and wife Meredith, and Ryan McGowan and wife Felicia, and 8 great grandchildren Alexis, Rosalie, Joshua, Judah, Jonah, Kathryn, Wesley and Dagen.

She is also survived by many close nieces and nephews with special mention to Bruce Leavitt who was always there when Aunt Jean needed him.

Graveside services will be held in the late spring. Arrangements in care of Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
