Obituary for Janet Catherine Boynton (McAdam)

East Millinocket - Janet Catherine (McAdam) Boynton, 90, passed away peacefully at her home after spending her last few days surrounded by her close family and friends. Janet was born July 6, 1932 in East Millinocket. She was the first child of Charles and Melvina (Hunter) McAdam. Janet was married to Walter “Billy” Boynton, Jr. on May 24, 1954, they shared 52 years of marriage together. Janet devoted her life to her family; she was a dedicated and supportive wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a special and unique relationship with each one of her grandchildren and loved them all very much. Janet was strong, dependable, loving and selfless in everything she did. She loved reading, traveling, hosting family holidays and spending time with her extended family and friends. She especially enjoyed gathering at her camp on Silver Lake to enjoy time with her family. Janet and Billy were smooth dancers and it was a delight to watch them grace the dance floor.

Janet will be sadly missed by her children Terry Vigue and her husband Duane of Gouldsboro, Julie Fiske and her husband Dick of Medway, Charley and his wife Elaine of Oregon, Jill Pelkey and her husband Mark of East Millinocket; her 13 grandchildren, Julian Szabo and his wife Lyndsey, Ben Boynton, Adam Vigue, Aaron Vigue, Kristi Fiske, Kathy Fiske, Jaime McNeal and her husband Darren, Cori Boynton and her husband Jason Wall, Seth Boynton and his wife Adrienne, Zachary Boynton, Josh Pelkey and his wife Ashley, Kara McDunnah and her husband DJ and James Pelkey and his wife Tayla; 19 great-grandchildren Jakob, Zachary and Vayda Szabo; Ryann Boynton; Sophie Haley-Vigue; Elliot Woodworth; Noah, Sam and Grace McNeal; Henry and Hayden Boynton; Jack, Jarrytt and Aubriella Mae Pelkey; Dylan and Seth McDunnah; Tegan Sproul, Ethan Faulkner and Vance Pelkey; her siblings Lorraine Ridge, Kenney McAdam and his wife Reni, Gene McAdam, Patty Trainor and her husband David; sisters and brothers in law Marlene McAdam, Anita Angotti and her husband Frank, Robert Boynton, Ralph Boynton and Cora Cox and her husband Steve; lifetime best friend Betty Morin; as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends. Janet was predeceased by her parents Charles and Melvina McAdam, husband Walter Boynton Jr., daughter Karen Boynton, brothers Robert, James, Richard and David McAdam, sister Pearl McAdam, mother and father in law Harriet and Walter Boynton Sr., sisters and brothers in law Ralph Ridge, Shirley McAdam and Jackie McAdam; and 2 special godchildren, James and Joe Timoney. Friends are invited to visit with the family prior to her service between the hours of 9:30 – 11:00am at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 58 Cedar Street, East Millinocket, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 18 with the Rev. Dominic Savio, pastor, presider. Burial ceremony will be held in the spring.
