Obituary for Janelle C. Sirois (Hebert)

Millinocket - Janelle C. (Hebert) Sirois, 87, of Millinocket passed away in the early hours of June 11, 2019 at Millinocket Regional Hospital. She was born August 16, 1931, the daughter of Theophile and Lottie Hebert.
Janelle was born and raised on a small farm in Edmunston, NB with the companionship of her seven siblings, all of whom she created some of her fondest childhood memories with. At the age of 19, while at a dance, Janelle met Leo, the love of her life and husband of 65 years. Together they moved to Millinocket and built their home on Colony Place, filling it with six beautiful children. This is where they met some of their most cherished life-long friends.
Janelle was known as a social butterfly and enjoyed the company of her family, friends, and neighbors. She saw to it that no visitor went hungry and was famous for her chicken stew and ployes. Many nights were spent around the kitchen table or on the front deck, where stories and laughs were shared with her visitors.
With a strong depth of faith, Janelle was an active member in St. Martin’s Catholic Church. For many years, it was a ritual to gather at McDonald’s after the service, where she would enjoy the company of her brothers and sisters in Christ. Together they would reminisce in their native French language about memories they shared in Aroostook County. As she aged and was unable to continue this tradition, she particularly valued visits from Maynard and Lynn Robinson, who shared the weekly sermon and communion with her in her own home.
In their younger years, Janelle and Leo were known for taking Sunday afternoon drives together to enjoy each other's company and the beautiful Maine scenery. With no destination in mind, they would end up anywhere between Northern and Southern Maine. Janelle was also just as happy driving around the streets of Millinocket, where she would point out old friends’ homes and speak of them with great fondness.
Janelle is survived by her three siblings Yvette Rhilinger, Gervais Hebert, Chlorinthe Michaud, son Richard & special friend Selina VanEss; daughter Diane & husband Terry Cain; son Roland & wife Suzanne; daughter Jessy; and son James. She was predeceased by her husband Leo, oldest son, David, and four siblings.
She also leaves behind five grandchildren & one great-grandchild, all of whom she loved dearly: Shannon Sirois, Emily Arruda & daughter Eleanor, Leah Sirois, Jordon Cain & Abby Cain. She was especially fond of and grateful for the support of her niece, Ann Marie "Bunny" Pray, as well as special friends Cal Cyr, Jeannette Levesque, and Stella Flewelling.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 A.M. Monday, June 24, 2019 at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby Street, Millinocket, with the Rev. Bruce Siket, pastor, presider. Friends are invited to visit with the family in the church narthex in the hour preceding the mass. Interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
