Obituary for James E. Wallace

James E. Wallace
MEDWAY - James E. Wallace, 74, passed away July 10, 2018 in his bed at home as per his wishes surrounded by loved ones. He was born on October 13, 1943 in Portland, Maine, the son of Gordon Leonard and Geraldine (Brewer) Wallace.
Jimmy was happiest at Cedar Lake, playing cards with his grandchildren, tending his garden, lighting off his cannons on July 4th, taking slow rides around the lake with Peggy. Jimmy could often be heard singing "Blue Moon of Kentucky Keep on Shining" and yelling "Get Off My Lake!" to certain boaters. Jimmy had a helping heart and from an early age was always willing to lend a hand, from checking on family and friends to helping build the East Millinocket Veterans Memorial. Jimmy loved to dance and would perform "The Worm" at weddings to the delight of all.
Jimmy was proud of his years at Great Northern Paper as a machinist working with his best friend Jimmy Lynch. In 1981, he and Peggy purchased Lennie's Superette where they ran the "Biggest Little Store North of Bangor" for 27 years.
Jimmy is survived by three children, Jaimie Wallace and wife Michelle, Kim Lyons and husband Robert and Mark Wallace and wife Leslie; grandchildren Joshua and Cassandra Wallace, Morgan and Brandon Ballard, Whitney and Christopher Yorston, Jared Lyons and Madison Wallace; great grandchildren Mackenzie , Lily, Jameson and Jase; sister Susan Grisham; in-laws Mitzi Wallace, Peter Kozlowski, Paul and Doris Hale, Ruth Hale, Harold Hale, Richard and Kathy Hale, Patricia Burleigh and Jeffrey and Heidi Hale, wonderful cousins, several aunts and one uncle, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Jere, sister-in-law Bonnie and the love of his life wife Peggy of 53 years.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his witty nurse Nancy Nadeau, all the family and friends that brightened his days by their frequent visits, "The Guys" for making his last poker game a reality and Bruce and Judy Fernald for their never ending love and support.
Friends are invited to celebrate with the family Sunday, July 15, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack Street, Millinocket. Graveside services will be held Monday, July 16, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the East Millinocket Cemetery.
Gifts in Jimmy's name may be sent to East Millinocket First Congregational UCC, 11 Maple Street, East Millinocket, ME 04430. Messages of condolence may be expressed at www.lamsonfh.com.
