Obituary for James G. Gillmor

Lincoln – James G. Gillmor, 52, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018 at his home in Lincoln. He was born September 15, 1966 in Concord, Massachusetts, the son of Charles A. and Donna (Johansen) Gillmor.

Jim was an avid outdoorsman, and had a lifelong passion and enjoyment of hunting and fishing. He was very proud member of the State of Maine Big Bucks Club, and wore his jacket often, even though it was at least 10 years old! In more recent times, he developed his skills with woodworking. Jim loved German Shepherd dogs, and was master to several over the years. He formed especially close bonds with Brute and most recently with Molly, who was with Jim right to the end. In years past, Jim owned a Buick Grand National which he showed at various car shows and won several trophies with.

He is survived by his step mother, Cathy Gillmor; a brother, Charlie Gillmor, Jr.; three step brothers, Parker Averill and Cole Averill, all of Lincoln, and Jamie Breen of Powhatan, Virginia; special friends, who Jim regarded as his second parents, Duane and Jackie Nelson of Menden, Massachusetts and their children, Eric, Inga, and Darna; an uncle, Edward Gillmor of Howland; two aunts Karen Delorey and her husband Joe, and Edith Sprague of Grand Lake Stream; a cousin, Bonnie Gagner of Grand Lake Stream; a very special friend, Amy Swensen of Princeton; and many, many family and friends, too numerous to list. Jim was predeceased by his parents.

At Jim’s request, there will be a private celebration of his life later in the summer at Grand Lake Stream. Gifts in memory of Jim may be sent to Shepherds Beyond Borders, P.O. Box 205 West Enfield, Maine 04493. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, Lincoln.
