Obituary for Irene Tapley (Santerre)

Millinocket – Irene Santerre Tapley was called home by the Lord to be reunited with her late husband Wallace “Wally” Tapley, Sr. on Sunday, July 3, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Millinocket July 4, 1933, the daughter of Herbert and Louise (Martin) Santerre.
Irene was a proud communicant of Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Millinocket and was very strong in her faith. She spent her life devoted to and serving her husband, children, and the Lord.
Irene is survived by six daughters, Louise Tinkham, Julie Mackenzie, Rhonda Cyr and her husband Galen, Cheryl Jewers and her husband Michael, MaryAnn Rideout and her husband Daniel, and Shelley Carver and her husband Jeffrey; a son, Wallace “Wally” Tapley, Jr. and his wife Dianne; sixteen grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; siblings Ernestine Quackenbush and her husband Harold, Ernest Santerre and his wife Ann, Herbert “Joe” Santerre and his wife Pat, and Mary Ann St. Peter and her husband Harold; a brother in law, Al Hughes; a sister in law, Mary Santerre; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers Wilfred Santerre and Lorena, Richard Santerre and Joanne, Clarence “Doc” Santerre, Delphis “Del” Santerre, Dorothy Raymond and Philip, Verna Charette and Guy, Florence “Flossie” Picard and Freddie; her twin Rena Santerre Hughes; brother in law Roland “Babe” Beaulieu; and sons in law Ronald Tinkham and Robert Mackenzie.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gwen Moore for the loving care that she gave to Irene this past year, and also the nursing staff and doctors at the Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln who gave such wonderful care to Irene.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 9:30 AM – 11 AM Thursday at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby Street, Millinocket, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 with the Rev. Dominic Savio, pastor, presider. Interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Irene may be sent to the Christ the Divine Mercy Parish Funeral Ministry, 19 Colby Street, Millinocket, ME 04462. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
