Obituary for Hildred E. Scott
Springfield – Hildred E. Scott, 98, wife of the late Donald W. Scott, went to be with the Lord Friday, July 15, 2022 at a Lincoln hospital. She was born November 11, 1923 in Springfield, the daughter of Jesse and Lyda (Jipson) Stevens.
Hildred grew up in Springfield and was a graduate of Eastern Maine Institute. She was school cook for many years at the Edith A. Lombard school in Springfield until she retired. Hildred enjoyed knitting and crocheting, cooking, camping, spending time with family, and going to the coast and enjoying a good lobster roll.
Hildred is survived by four children, Gary Scott, Sr., Douglas Scott and his wife Nancy, Glenn Scott and his wife Frances, and Beth Pelkey; seven grandchildren, Gary Scott, Jr., Paul Scott and wife Rhonda, Sherry Dill and husband Philip, Eric Scott and wife Sara, Scott Spencer, Steven Scott, and Stephanie Horton and husband Lamar; thirteen great grandchildren, Gary Lewis Scott, Shawn Scott, Lindsey Scott, Kody Scott and Tiara, Kasey Scott and Brandon, Victoria Buteau and Charlie, Ashley Helsor and Logan, Sydney French and Robert, Tyler Horton, Camden Horton, Tayley Horton, Sarah Mann and Brandon, and Adam Spencer; fourteen great great grandchildren; a sister in law, Helena Stevens; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and her husband, Hildred was predeceased by a daughter in law, Elaine Scott, a son in law Stephen Pelkey, brothers Lewis, Vernon, Blake, and Wayne Stevens, sisters Daisy Bruce, Thelma Parker, and Beulah Stevens.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM Sunday, July 24 at the Cole Cemetery, Springfield with the Pastor William Chesley officiating. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Lincoln. Services will be live streamed and may be viewed, and messages of condolence expressed, at www.lamsonfh.com.
