Obituary

Lee - Helen R. Cole, 90, passed away Friday November 15, 2019, at Care Ridge with her family at her side. Helen was born February 6, 1929 in Winn, the daughter of William and Christine (Dodge) McEwen, and was the oldest of all the living McEwen children.
She was employed for many years at Forsters Manufacturing making clothespins. She was a member of the Katahdin Snowmobile Club where she enjoyed many good times snowmobiling for miles. Helen was also a life menber of the Ladies Auxillary of the V.F.W..
Helen is survived by her two daughters, Linda Gorka and her husband Edward of Connecticut, Patricia Cole of Florida, a brother William McEwen and his wife Marcella of New York. She also leaves behind three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and her dog “Jasmine”. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Walter Cole, her daughter Wilma Stanley, two sisters: Evelyn Bartlett, Roberta McEwen, a brother James “Bud” McEwen, a special brother-in-law Kenneth Bartlett. The family would like to thank Don Gammon and his staff at Care Ridge for their loving, wonderful care of GRAMMY while she was a resident there, as well as a special thanks to CHCS hospice and their staff for keeping her comfortable these last few weeks.
Friends may call 4-6 PM Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, 7 Lee Rd. Lincoln. Funeral services will be conducted 11AM Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Landry officiating. A committal will take place in the spring at East Winn Cemetery. Those who wish to remember Helen in a special way may make gifts in her memory payable to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, PO Box 76, Winn, ME 04495.
