Obituary for Harriet Ianathia Bouchard (Stewart)

Millinocket – Harriet I. (Stewart) Bouchard, 96, died Saturday, May 15, 2021 at a Houlton health care facility. She was born March 26, 1925, the daughter of Lulu Durffy and William Stewart. She had seven siblings, Gladys, Cora, Gertrude, Frannie, and Floris; and two brothers, Roy and Clarence. She was predeceased by her husband, Lincoln A. Bouchard her son, Lewis D. Pelkey, and Lew’s father, Paul Pelkey.
Harriet leaves behind a daughter, Paula D. (Pelkey) Adams and her husband Douglas; a daughter in law, Denise Pelkey; a step son Bobby Amorosso and family; six grandchyildren, Sonya, Karen, Lewis, Terry, Michelle, and Jackie and their spouses; seventeen great grandchildren; and many close nieces, nephews, and cousins. Harriet will be especially missed by special nieces and nephews Carole Brown and husband Don of Milo, and Linda Slauenwhite, Gerry Baker and Terry Baker, all of Millinocket.
She grew up in Boothbay Harbor where her father was a fisherman and she helped her mother pick crabmeat on the dock as a child. She worked as a waitress in the 1950’s & 60’s at Jo Mary Restaurant and in the 1970’s she worked at the Brookside Restaurant. She provided childcare in Millinocket for many years.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Stearns Assisted Living and all the employees who provided loving care to her. We are deeply thankful to all of you, and also to Madigan Rehab, her close friend, Ada Barnes, and the ladies she played cards with.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM Thursday, May 20 at the Millinocket Cemetery with the Rev. Bruce Siket officiating. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket. Services will be livestreamed and may be viewed, and messages of condolence expressed, at Harriet’s Book of Memories at www.lamsonfh.com.
