Obituary for Harold E. Woodard

Lincoln – Harold E. Woodard, 89, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Friday, August 16, 2019 at a Bangor health care facility. He was born August 9, 1930 in Lincoln, the son of Byron E. and Mildred F. (Beek) Woodard.

Harold grew up in Lincoln, and was a graduate of Mattanawcook Academy. He served as a Medic with the 16th Crash and Rescue in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, earning an honorable discharge as a decorated soldier. After his service, he returned to Lincoln where he worked various jobs, including trucking, and eventually began a career with the Lincoln Police Department, becoming a well loved and respected police officer. Harold loved being outdoors, spending time with his family, reading his newspaper, and being on his computer – his favorite pastime. Many happy memories were made with his family taking trips and travelling over the years. He will be remembered as the best husband, father, grandpa, and friend.

Harold is survived by his wife of 45 years, “Ginger” (Whalen) Woodard of Lincoln; six children, Carolee McLaughlin and her husband Everett of Lincoln, Mary Duplisea and her husband Pat of Newcastle, Indiana, John Ciarrochi and his wife Stephanie of Goodyear, Arizona, Lisa Markie and her husband Scott of Mattawamkeag, Donny Woodard and his wife Amanda of Lincoln, and Michael Woodard of Phoenix, AZ; seven grandchildren, Jaimie, Jerod, Kylie, Katelynn, Tristan, Chanel, and Boston; three great grandchildren, McKayla, Kaylyn, and Sydney; sisters Patty Faloon and her husband Brent of Passadumkeag, Wanda Martin, and Shirley Ireland, all of Howland; two sisters in law, Mary Whalen of Presque Isle, and Joan Workman of Hamden, Connecticut; three special friends, Ed Brawn, Harley Sproul, and Bill Lawrence; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Harold was predeceased by his first wife, Eileen (Coffin) Woodard, and a brother, Donald Woodard.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 1-3 P.M. Friday, August 23 at the Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 3 P.M. with the Rev. Billy Chesley officiating. Interment, with military honors will be at the Lincoln Cemetery. A Celebration of his Life will be at the Lincoln Waterfront after.
