Obituary for Harold Raymond Davis Sr.

Print
Millinocket – Harold Raymond Davis, Sr., 85, passed peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. After a long battle, he stated he was ready to join his three sons who are waiting for him in heaven. Harold was born February 1, 1933 in Millinocket, the son of John and Blanche (Barr) Davis.

Harold married Verna C. McNally at the age of 18 on February 24, 1951, and they enjoyed 67 years of marriage. On their 65th anniversary they renewed their vows for the fourth time and still could out dance many. Harold worked at the Great Northern Paper Company and retired from there in 1988. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Harold was in his element playing with the children. He also enjoyed building and maintaining his home and always loved when he could lend a hand to others. Rest during the day time hours was never on his list of “to do’s”. There was never a time one didn’t see him puttering and fixing something for someone (or rescuing his daughter with vehicle issues!).

Harold loved being in the woods hunting, 4 wheeling, snow sledding and going up to Telos with his sons. He also enjoyed spending time fishing up to Nesowdadnehunk in his camper. As his grandsons grew he taught them how to get their game.

In addition to his wife, Verna, he is survived by three children, Deborah Chesson and her husband Wayne, Harold Raymond “John” Davis, Jr. and his wife Rose Ann, and Francine Manzo and her husband Eugene “Tony” Manzo; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; three brothers, Charles Davis and his wife Doris, Jack Davis, and Richard Jandreau and his wife Lea Ann; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Harold was predeceased by three sons, William “Billy” Davis, Cris Davis, and Randy Davis, and a brother, Robert Jandreau.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 A.M. Saturday, November 10 at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby Street, Millinocket, with the Rev. Bruce Siket, pastor, presider. Private interment will be at Millinocket Cemetery at a later date. Gifts in memory of Harold may be sent to Community Health and Counseling Hospice, 313 Enfield Road, Lincoln, ME 04457, or to the Katahdin Area Support Group, P.O. Box 374, Millinocket, ME 04462.
