Obituary for Gordon Earl Plourde

Old Town – Gordon Earl Plourde, 77, passed away unexpectedly March 22, 2023 at his residence in Old Town. He was born June 21, 1945 in West Enfield, the son of Edward and Elizabeth Frances (Pelletier) Plourde.

Gordon grew up in West Enfield and attended Penobscot Valley High School in Howland. In 1967 he joined the US Army and was stationed in Germany. After his military service he continued his education and graduated from the University of Maine at Presque Isle with an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Law. Gordon was employed at the South Branch Lumber Company, then worked at LaBree’s Bakery until his retirement. He was a member of the Elks Club in Presque Isle and served as Judge Advocate for the Old Town American Legion. He loved working for service organizations, cooking, gardening, and reading.

Gordon is survived by two brothers, Edward Plourde of Howland and Andrew Plourde and his wife Kay of West Springfield, Massachusetts; three sisters, Addie Plourde of Lincoln, Melinda Ruckle and her husband Earl of Jacksonville, Florida and Laura Plourde of Norwood, MA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, Gordon was predeceased by three brothers, Origene, Wilford, and Albert; a sister Martha Thurlow and her husband Grady; and a sister in law Lucie Plourde.

Gordon was a very quiet man. He was dearly loved by his family and will be sorely missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Tuesday, June 20 at Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, St. Leo’s Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Anthony K. Chinnaiyan, HGN, pastor, presider. Interment, with military honors, will be at St. Matthew’s Cemetery in West Enfield and immediately follow the service. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Lincoln.
