Millinocket – Gloria H. Jones, 88, wife of the late Charles Jones, Sr., passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021 at a Millinocket health care facility with family by her side. She was born December 21, 1932 in Howland, the daughter of James G. and Ellen E. (Lugdon) Wallace.
Gloria grew up in Howland, and was a graduate of Howland High School, class of 1951. She was a babysitter to many families in Howland and Millinocket, and was known as an excellent baker. Many holiday gatherings in the area had Gloria’s touch, as she baked fruit cakes and pies to order and had a large client base. She volunteered for many years with the Donald Henry Post #80 American Legion Auxiliary, baking and helping with public dinners and playing Bingo. Gloria loved attending her own family gatherings, as well, and will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She is survived by two children, Martha Haven and her husband Dana, and Craig Jones and his wife Tanya; daughter in-law Heidi Gilmore and her husband Jack seven grandchildren, Seth Haven and his significant other Becca Torrice, Elizabeth Cirame and her husband Ian, Catherine Shaw and her husband Loren, Danielle Farley and her husband Chris, and Jonathan Chiasson and his wife Courtney; Johnny Gilmore and Will Gilmore; six great grandchildren, Charlee, Riley, Sawyer, Kenzlee, Emersyn, and Samantha; a brother, Ronald Wallace and his wife Imogene; two sisters in law, Alice Wallace and Katie Tibbitts; a brother in law, Rodney Williams and his wife Carolyn; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and her husband, Gloria was predeceased by a son, Charles Jones, Jr., six brothers, three sisters, and a great grandson, Camden Thomas Chiasson.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 2- 4 PM Friday, April 30 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack Street, Millinocket, where funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday, May 1 with Rev. Terry Given officiating. Interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Gloria may be sent to the Katahdin Area Support Group, P.O.
