Obituary for Gilbert R. "Bee" Bouchard

Millinocket – Gilbert R. “Bee” Bouchard, 81, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at a Brewer health care facility. He was born February 21, 1938 in Millinocket, the son of Lawrence and Martha (Sirois) Bouchard.

Bee graduated from St. Martin’s in 1956. He worked at Great Northern Paper Company during his high school years and continued until his retirement. He also served in the National Guard. He was a lifetime memer of Elks Lodge #1521 in Millinocket. . Bee loved the outdoors. He enjoyed trapping, hunting, fishing, and camping in the summers at the Big Eddy, where he and his late wife Dorothy spent over 20 years together enjoying their retirement. He also made many good friends at Nesowadnehunk Lake, where he and his friend Margaret Plourde also enjoyed fishing. He was an avid fly fisherman with a passioin to tie his own flys, and make fly rods for all of his family, including the great grandsons.

Bee is survived by his sons, Richard Bouchard and his wife Linda of Virginia, Michael Bouchard and Brian Bouchard of Millinocket, daughters Cheryl Bouchard and Edwina Wheaton and her husband Brad, all of Millinocket; grandchildren, Danielle, Bradley, Ashley, Tyler, Brittany, Victoria, Brandon, Dylan, and Zachary; great grandchildren Kyle, Leah, Ryan, Savannah, Charlotte, Jakob, Brady, Riley, and Leighton; sisters Bunny Pray and her husband Peter, Edwina Bouchard of Rimouski, Canada; sisters in law Patricia Bouchard, Theresa Martin, and Claudette Preston; brother in law, David Pelkey; a very special niece Debra Ayotte; a very special friend and companion Margaret Plourde, who has been part of the family for many years; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Dorothy (Pelkey) Bouchard, a brother, Robert Bouchard, brother in law Alison Pelkey, and a sister in law, Shirley Pelkey.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 P.M. Sunday, May 5 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack Street, Millinocket. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 A.M. Monday, May 6 at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby Street, Millinocket, with the Rev. Bruce Siket, pastor, presider. Interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery at a later date. Gifts in memory of Bee may be sent to the Katahdin Area Support Group, P.O. Box 374, Millinocket, ME 04462.
