Obituary for Gerald "Jerry" Potvin

Medway – Gerald “Jerry” Potvin, 80, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at a Bangor hospital. He was born February 5, 1940 in Millinocket, the son of Lucien and Viola (Blanchette) Potvin.

He moved with his family to Medway from Fort Kent when he was 16, where he met his soul mate Madeline “Kay” Day, and they were married August 30, 1958. They had five children who he was devoted to. Jerry’s family was his life. He was a devoted family man and lived his faith in Jesus and the Blessed Mother, praying his rosary daily. He taught his family how to love and live by his example. His faith gives reassurance to his family as to his eternal home. He was a welder by trade, starting out at the Millinocket Foundry, and then working for GNP. Jerry loved music and was known for his guitar performances. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending in pursuit of his hobby. He was a communicant of Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, and a member of the Knight of Columbus, St. Martin’s Council #680. Jerry will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by his family and many friends in the Katahdin region.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kay Potvin; five children, Lorri Cyr and her husband Rick, Lisa McLaughlin and her husband Stanley, Angela Adams and Chris Elkins, Jerry Potvin, Jr. and his wife Erika, and Christopher Potvin and his wife Heidi; thirteen grandchildren, Rick Jr., Hollie, Mathew, Jessica, Nicole, Nick, Devin, Jericah, Jaime, Lauren, Aaron, Cayden, and Carson; thirteen great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Jerry was predeceased by a brother Donald Potvin, and a sister, Jean Deloge.

Services will be private, with a public committal at Grindstone Cemetery in Medway in the spring. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
