Obituary for George Russell King

Lincoln – George Russell King, 85, walked on to meet his best friend, Jesus, on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the Cummings Nursing Home in Howland.
He is the son of the late Paul and Ora (Kennedy) King and stepmother, Arlean King. He leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Jeanette (Libby) King; his three daughters, Lori (John), Kerry (Randy) and Dolly (Rick, deceased). Also surviving are his sisters and brothers: Ida, Darrel, Dale, Priscilla, Patricia, Delbert, Paula, Pauline, Perline, Pam, and Pennie as well as twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his brothers Paul David, Dalton, Dennis, Doug and Dwaine and his sister, Mickey.
He was born in Pittsfield on October 20,1934, raised in Lincoln where he attended school, George served in the Maine National Guard, was employed by the Town of Lincoln and then worked in the mill for forty-two years. He volunteered for the Lincoln Fire Department, was an active member of the Church of God for sixty-three years and served as a member of the Lincoln Historical Society as well as serving as a tourist guide in the Lombard Log Hauler exhibit at Leonard’s Mill.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, August 18 at the Mattawamkeag Church of God, 284 North Main Street, Mattawamkeag, where funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Wednesday, August 19 with the Rev. Mark York, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Lincoln Cemetery.
