Obituary for Geneva M. Higgins (Saucier)

Millinocket – Geneva M. Higgins, 91, went to be with the Lord Thursday, December 06, 2018 at a Millinocket health care facility. She was born April 17, 1927 in Howland, the daughter of Victor and Hedwidge (Dumas) Saucier.
Geneva grew up in Howland, and was a graduate of Howland High School, class of 1945. After graduating, she moved to Millinocket to work and met Harold Higgins, whom she would marry on October 9, 1948. Being one of 14 children, Geneva was a very family oriented person, and stayed in frequent contact with her siblings and raising her four children to be close also. In younger years, she enjoyed sewing and quilting. For many years, she worked with her husband in businesses they owned and operated in Enfield and later at the Katahdin General Store in Millinocket for over 30 years. Geneva was a communicant at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Millinocket.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Harold Higgins of Millinocket; four children, Stephen Higgins, David Higgins, Harold Higgins, Jr. and his wife Jaynie, and Mary Beth Tabor and her husband Paul; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Geneva was predeceased by thirteen siblings.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 10 – 11 A.M. Thursday, December 13 at the St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 40 Highland Avenue, Millinocket, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. with the Rev. Robert Landry, pastor, presider. Spring interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Geneva may be sent to the Katahdin Health Care, 22 Walnut Street, Millinocket, ME 04462. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
