Gaylene F. Tash, 77, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born January 12, 1945, in Lincoln, Maine to Elwyn Lancaster and Emma (Betty) Arnold.
Gaylene, who was predeceased by her husband, Darrell, on May 20, 2022, devoted her life as a stay-at-home mom to her three children, raising them in Chester, Maine. Gaylene spent many hours canning vegetables from Darrell’s garden. She loved to knit, always making wool socks for family and friends until her eyesight and physical limitations prevented her from continuing. Gaylene then discovered social media and spent many enjoyable hours looking at pictures, posts, and comments, never failing to wish her friends a Happy Birthday. She enjoyed spending summers at Elsemore’s Landing, sitting around the campfire, listening to County Gold music and the Boston Red Sox game but she never failed to express her dislike for football. Gaylene loved with all her heart.
Gaylene is survived by her son, Mark Tash and his wife Bonnie, of Enfield, daughters Rene Kein and her husband Patrick, of Evans, GA, Alycia Aiken and her husband Kristofer of Lincoln. Grandchildren Steven Whitney, Brittany Tash, Myranda Gallego and her husband Andres, Brody Marone, and Georgianna Aiken. Great grandchildren Jaxson and Ava Gallego. Sister Lynnette Riel of Plattsburg, NY, special nieces Angela Snook and her husband James, and Vonnette Towle of Plattsburg, NY. Brothers in law Terry Tash and his wife Myong Che of Pyeongtaek South Korea, Carroll Tash and his wife Tina of Lincoln, Preston Tash and his wife Melissa of Shawnee, OK. Sisters in law, Loretta Clark of Lincoln, Gloria Jandreau of Bangor, and Darrylyn Costigan and her husband Bob of Waldoboro, a dear aunt, Christine Arnold, of Lincoln, her best friend Mary Tash of Chester, and special friend Eva Thibodeau of Howland.
She was predeceased by her spouse of nearly 60 years, Darrell Tash. In honoring Gaylene’s wishes there will be no public service.
