Obituary for Gary D. Scott Sr.
Springfield – Gary D. Scott, Sr., 79, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022, in Bangor, surrounded by his family. He was born April 28, 1943, in Lincoln, the son of Donald and Hildred (Stevens) Scott.
Gary grew up in Springfield and attended school there. He worked at Pratt & Whitney, twenty nine years as a heavy equipment operator at Thompson Trucking and was self-employed at his own trucking company for twenty-one years. Gary loved gardening, camping, moose hunting, fly fishing, and visiting with people at his vegetable stand. He loved going to the Fryeburg Fair, going to the casino, and riding with Stuart Smith.
He is survived by four children, Gary D. Scott, Jr., Paul Scott and his wife Rhonda, Sherry Dill and her husband Philip, and Eric Scott and his wife Sara; seven grandchildren, Gary Lewis Scott, Shawn Scott, Lindsey Scott and Connor, Kasey Scott and Brandon, Kody Scott and wife Tiara, Victoria Buteau and her husband Charlie, and Ashley Helsor and her husband Logan; eleven great grandchildren, Andrew, Alyssa and Aidan Scott, Madison Scott, Jonathan and Kyleigh Toby, Maggie and Alex Markie, Karson and Landon Scott, and Natalie Buteau; three siblings, Douglas Scott and his wife Nancy, Glenn Scott and his wife Frances, and Beth Pelkey; siblings in law Cecile and Lauren Chesley, Nellie and Larry Stevens, Inez Osnoe, and Colleen Worster; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gary will also be missed by special friends Stuart Smith, John Osgood, and Hazen Jipson, Jr. In addition to his parents, Gary was predeceased by his wife Elaine, a son, Timothy Scott, and a brother-in-law Stephen Pelkey.
Graveside services will be held 12 noon Saturday, August 13, 2022, at the Cole Cemetery in Springfield with Pastor William Chesley officiating. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Lincoln.
