Obituary for Florence M. "Flossie" Picard

Millinocket - Florence (Flossie) Santerre Picard, wife of the late Alfred J. Picard, passed away on December 16, 2019 at the age of 88 at Katahdin Healthcare Center surrounded by her family. She went to join our Dad in Heaven, her beloved husband. She was born August 26, 1931 in Millinocket ME to Louise and Herbert Santerre.

Flossie was born and raised in Millinocket and graduated from Stearns High School class of 1949. She was a member of St Martin's Christ Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Millinocket. Flossie worked at Steeves Plumbing Shop and Steeves Hardware Store for many years along with our Dad.

We could not have asked for a better mom. We have so many great memories and our very best were building our family camp at North Twin Lake. We spent many happy years together at camp with family and friends, all to which we will cherish forever.

Mom came from a very large family who she treasured. They would often all gather at the family home on the porch and laugh for hours. They were fondly know as the "Porch People".

Flossie is survived by her 3 children and their families, Mike and Donna Picard, Jean and Ron Preble and Tom Picard all of Millinocket. Five grandchildren Trisha Burke, Sarah and husband Scott Shurtlett, Shawn and wife Jennifer Picard, Tyler Picard, Steven Preble and Fiancée Melissa McVey. Seven great grandchildren Brady, Jack, Julia, Evan, Annibel, Avritt and Danica. Her siblings: Irene Tapley, Rena and husband Al Hughes, Ernestine and husband Harold Quackenbush, Ernest and wife Ann Santerre, Herbert (Joe) and wife Pat Santerre, Maryann and husband Harold St. Peter. A very special sister-in law Mary Santerre who our mom spent so much time with after our father passed away. We cannot thank you enough Aunt Mary for everything you did for our mom. A very special cousin Egbert, who was like a brother and his wife Mary Plourde. Many wonderful nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Alfred in 1986 whom she missed beyond words. Flossie's parents Herbert and Louise Santerre. Her twin brother Herbert II, her brothers Wilfred and wife Lorena Santerre, Richard and wife Joanne Santerre, Clarence (Doc) Santerre, Delphis Santerre. Sisters Dorothy and husband Philip Raymond, Verna and husband Guy Charette. Two brother in-laws Wally Tapley and Roland (Babe) Beaulieu.

Also we would like to thank Flossie's amazing daughter in-law Donna, for everything you have ever done for our mother. Mom could never have asked for a better daughter in-law. You were always there for her and we could never thank you enough for everything you have ever done for her!

We would like to thank Katahdin Healthcare employee's for the excellent care, love and compassion that you all have given our mother. You all worked so very hard and are all Angels in our families’ eyes.
