Obituary for Ethel Jipson

Burlington – On Wednesday, October 30, 2019, our mom, Ethel Jipson, was reunited with our dad, Herschel Jipson. She was born March 17, 1934 to Lewis Jipson, Sr., a hardworking woodsman, and Estella (Toby) (Jipson) Eaton, a well known local teacher.

Mom was born and raised in Burlington and lived her 85 years on Long Ridge Road. She married our dad, who also lived 89 years on Long Ridge Road, on March 5, 1949. Together, they raised their 4 chidlren, had a huge vegetable garden that anyone who drove past would comment on, raised animals for food, canned the contents of the garden, enjoyed the outdoors, snowshoeing in the winter, mowing the lawn in the summer, many walks with dad and raised many dogs which made for much entertainment. You could also see her working with dad shovelling snow and stacking firewood. Mom was a devoted Christian, attending the Full Gospel Tabernacle and, in later years, the Passadumkeag Baptist Church. Mom was also a member of TOPS #0203.

Mom was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, her parents, a brother, Lewis Jipson, Jr., and sons in law Michael L. King and Frederick Savage.

She is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Tardif and her husband Jon of Lincoln, Esther Jipson and special friend Danny Cummings of Howland, Wendy Grover and Kenneth Osnoe, Jr. of Chester, and a son, Cyrus Jipson and his wife Roberta of Passadumkeag; eleven grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren (with another due in March!); all of whom she enjoyed spending time with. She is also survived by a brother, Eugene Jipson and wife Willa of Burlington; a sister, Golda Stinson of Charleston; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 P.M. Friday, November 1 at the Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Saturday, November 2. Interment will be at Mt. Repose Cemetery, Burlington. A gathering will be held after at the home of Esther Jipson, 10 Terrio Street, Howland.
