Obituary for Emery Ellis Dwyer
Molunkus Township – (FLAG) (ARMY Emblem) Emery Ellis Dwyer, 71, found his way to Lord on Oct. 19, 2019, peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Emery was born on Oct. 17, 1948 in Selden, Maine, son of Stanley and Avis Dwyer. Emery had a large and loving family. Upon entering his eternal life in heaven, Emery leaves behind the love of his life, wife Jean Dwyer; oldest son Shannon Dwyer, his wife Sandi their daughters, Whitney and Lilly of Gray; daughter-in-law Karri and granddaughters, MacKenzie and Ryleigh of Farmington; an older brother Gene and his wife Pam Dwyer of Bradford, sisters Marlene and her husband Colin Hogan of Linneus, Brenda and her husband James Hall of Littleton, Norma and her husband Bruce Malone of Haynesville and Nancy and her husband Bill Malone of Haynesville, several nieces and nephews. Emery is reunited in heaven with his youngest son Shane Dwyer who passed in 2008 and younger sister Joan McEwen who passed in 2012. Emery also leaves behind best friends, Steve Federico of Canton and Bob LaCombe of Medway and Holly Jandreau, who was like the daughter he never had.
From a young age, his love of hunting and fishing was influenced by two special uncles, Hartley and Monty, from whom he learned his great storytelling. He graduated from East Grand High School. Emery and Jean were high school sweethearts and married just thirteen days before Emery bravely served his country in the United States Army and was deployed to Vietnam, serving his country for a year as a Sergeant and was wounded twice in combat, receiving two Purple Hearts and a Medal of Honor for his heroism and service. Emery worked for forty years between the East Millinocket and Millinocket paper mills.
Emery was a Pentecostal Christian and took pride in his dedication to his faith. His faith was a strong foundation in his life and all who knew Emery, knew his love for the Lord. Emery was a deacon of the church for forty years. Emery taught youth and Sunday school at Zion Pentecostal Church and pastored at Weston Community Church for five years.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 1 – 8 PM. Tuesday, October 22 at Zion Pentecostal Church, 249 Medway Road, Mattawamkeag, where funeral services celebrating Emery’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 1:00 PM. Interment will be at the Grindstone Road Cemetery, Medway. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, Lincoln.
