Obituary for Elizabeth M. "Betts" Johnston (Tracy)

East Millinocket – Elizabeth M. Johnston, 74, went home to our Lord on Thursday, November 1, 2018. She was born December 27, 1943 in Waltham, Massachusetts the daughter of Clayton A. and Elizabeth M. (Corscadden) Tracy.

Betts was most proud to graduate from Schenck High School, class of 1986 – 25 years after her scheduled graduation with the class of 1961. She went on to receive an AS in Business Management from University College in 1989, and a BS in University Studies at UMaine in Orono in 1997.

Over the years Betts was a member of many organizations. Most recently, she was a member of the Rotary Club of Old Town, a member of the Piecemakers Quilt Group, enjoyed studying with a Bible Study Group in Millinocket and having Wednesday breakfast with the Breakfast Bunch. She loved nature, music, photography, sewing, cooking, and always learning new things.

She is survived by the love of her life, Gene Johnston, her husband of 42 years. Between them, they have seven children – Tracy E. Johnston and his wife Amy of Bangor, Sean M. Johnston and his wife Stacie of East Millinocket, Kimberly A. Osgood and her husband Richard of Dedham, Antoinette M. Federico and friend Keith of Bucksport, Tammy L. Truax of Mt. Morris, NY, Melissa J. Martin and her husband Wayne of Webster, New Hampshire, Amy Hastings and her husband Jim of Box Elder, South Dakota. They have twenty grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom she loved with a heartfelt passion and celebrated each of their achievements in her heart. Betts was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Clayton Tracy, Jr., a sister, Mildred Portelance, mother in law, Blanche Johnston, father in law Albert H Johnston, brother in law, Albert Johnston III, and nephews Luke Miller and Michael Tracy.

Memorial services will be held 1 P.M. Tuesday, November 6 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack Street, Millinocket with Rev. Bruce Siket officiating. Gifts in memory of Betts may be sent to the charity of one’s choice.
