Obituary for Edward D. Robinson Jr.

Springfield – Edward D. Robinson, Jr., 76, died Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

Edward was a man of many lives. In his early years he grew up in New Jersey on the Delaware Bay to then join the Army at 18 years old and serve 4 years deployed in Germany during the Vietnam war. After Ed got discharged from the service, he started his favorite job at a New Jersey penitentiary for around 25 years. Ed was an avid sportsman and really enjoyed hunting deer in Maine with his brothers. 30 years ago, Ed bought “Camp Swampy” in Springfield and made it his home. Ed spent 27 consecutive years in the middle of the woods living off the land, just how he had always wanted. He was a registered Maine guide and led many people on a positive hunt.
Ed is survived by his two children: Diana Robinson Carroll of New jersey, her spouse and their child and Edward Robinson III of New jersey, his spouse, and their children. His Nephew Joe Robinson of New Jersey. Ed was survived also by his three Maine children, Mikayla and Matthew Glidden and Eric Jipson. These three children were the light of his life in his older years. He met Mikayla when she was 5 years old and if you knew Ed, he would tell you the entire story.

Ed was a frequent flyer at Raymond’s Restaurant in Lee and Mikayla would like
to send a special thank you to them for always keeping him in line when she couldn’t.

Services will be held November 19th at “Camp Swampy” and if anyone needs the address, please contact Mikayla Glidden. In Lieu of flowers Ed would’ve liked for donations to be sent to Maine Pine Tree camp for children, 114 Pine Tree Camp Rd, Rome, ME 04963.
