Obituary for Edmond J. Martin

West Enfield - Edmond Martin, 88 went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at his home with his family by his side. He was born October
18, 1934 in Baie Ste Anne, New Brunswick, Canada on. He was one of eleven children of Fred and Genevieve (Manuel) Martin. He attended
school in Baie Ste Anne. He then moved to Harvey Station with his family and went to work for
the railroad, “Canadian Pacific.” He moved to Maine in 1957 and his first job was at the Tannery
in Howland. He then worked at Bangor Hydro. In 1972, he started his own logging company,
“Martin Logging.” He would cut wood with chainsaws and skidders, along with his two sons
Randy and Donnie.
He loved the Lord and he was proud to share the Gospel with everyone. He was a member of
the Full Gospel Tabernacle. Whatever needed to be done at the church, Edmond was always
ready to do it. God had blessed him with many talents such as carpentry, plowing, and serving
as a deacon. He was the jack of all trades, and he mastered them all.
He never met a stranger that he wouldn’t talk to. He loved talking to people. We would be at a
restaurant and he would just start talking to anyone. Once we were seated at the table, we
would ask him whom he was talking to, he would say that he didn’t know. He always wanted to
be friendly and kind to others. He always liked to tease others, and would tell you that he was
handsome.
He loved to help others. If someone needed a hand, Edmond would always drop what he was
doing and help them. He could build or fix anything with his hands.
Edmond married Mavis Tracy from McAdam, New Brunswick, Canada. They were married on
November 27, 1956, for 66 wonderful years. They had six children together: son Ricky and
Bonnie Martin, daughter Carol and Wally Jipson, son Randy Martin, son Donnie and Mona
Martin, daughter Mary and David Michuad, daughter Jennifer and Bill Brown. They had 19
grandchildren: Chad, Kailee, Benjamin, Kari, Martin, Kristy, Cassidy, Cody, Courtney, Deryk,
Gina, Tyler, Crystal, Josh, Brandon, Kayla, Jaimee, William, and Caleb. There were 35 great
grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren. He loved them all greatly. Edmond was
predeceased by his brothers Alyre, Eloi, and Emile, and his sisters Catherine, Bertha,
Geraldine, Elonia, Anna, and Dorila; all of Canada. He was also predeceased by his son-in-law
Benny Tibbetts, and grandsons Tyler and Chad Martin. In remembrance of Edmond please pay
it forward by lending a hand or sharing a kind word. The family has been blessed by your kind
words by you sending prayers or phone calls. The service will be held at Full Gospel Tabernacle
on Tuesday February 7 at 1 P.M, 14 Fleming St., Lincoln, Maine with Brother Tony Stewart
officiating.
