Obituary for Edith "Edie" Heisse

Enfield – Edith Heisse, 73, died Friday, December 28, 2018 at an Orono health care facility. She was born February 1, 1945 in Philadelphia, the daughter of Paul and Margaret (Keen) Heisse.

She was a member of Redeemer Church in Philadelphia, where she had been a member of the choir for over 40 years. She had been a member of the Girl Scouts, Luther League, and the Rainbow Girls. As an adult she was an active member of the Lutheran Church Women. Edie worked until her mother died in 1985, after which she cared for her father who became blind and partially crippled as an adult. They moved to Maine in 1996.

Edie is survived by her sisters Elaine Smart and her husband Richard of Enfield and Carol Chiffens of Pasadena, Maryland; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and a great great nephew, Bransen. In addition to her parents, Edie was predeceased by a baby brother.

She was a very loving and caring person, who spent her last few years under the care of the staff at Orono Commons. Memorial services will be held 1 P.M. Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Lowell Fire Department, 129 West Old Main Road, Lowell.
