Obituary for Doris A. Turner

Lincoln – Doris A. Turner, last living child of Henry and Lillian Ruth (Cox) Argraves, born September 2, 1931 in Upper Kintore, New Brunswick, Canada, left us to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her beloved husband Ray, and son Brian at Colonial Health Care on Saturday, November 30, 2019.

Doris attended the Nazarene Church, Lincoln Center Baptist Church, and in her later years, the Maranatha Riverside Church. She taught Sunday School, assisted in the Bible school, and always had many of the children of all ages visiting her home, many of whom she led to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Even though many years have passed, many of her previous students have kept in touch with her throughout the years! Doris enjoyed cross country skiing, swimming, fishing, going on trips, and playing in the snow. Doris was an avid genealogy researcher, travelling to many libraries, towns, and other sites gathering information. She graduated from the Fort Fairfield High School, class of 1948. Doris was a bank teller for Lincoln Trust and Bangor Savings Bank, and did bookkeeping for Sheridan Smith in her earlier years. She married Ray Turner on August 14, 1951 and was his wife for 62 years until Ray passed away on May 19, 2014. Their son, Brian, passed away March 19, 2014. She was also predeceased by both her parents, three brothers, and four sisters. Doris is survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by two brothers in law, Allen Dickinson of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and Roy Turner and his wife June, of Connecticut; a sister in law Doris Glew of Fort Fairfield; a half brother, Henry Argraves of Madison; and three half sisters, Diana McDougal of Hartland, Susan Keene of Utah, and Natalie Austin of Tennessee.
