Obituary for Doris E. Taylor (Clough)

Lincoln – Doris Eleanor (Clough) Taylor, 90, went on to be with the Lord on Monday, November 9, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Doris was born on January 10, 1930 to Vernon and Ruth Clough of Carroll. She had great strength and possessed superior work ethic, and most of all, a loving heart for her family and friends. Doris started work as a youth on a milk crate, washing dishes at the Bon Ton Restaurant. Doris and her husband, Manley, founded their own bakery business in their home when the kids were young. Cooking and caring for others were her passion. She later assisted her mom at the Lincoln Hospital as a prep cook, and then assumed the Cook position. She then graduated CNA classes and worked for many years at Workman’s Hospital in Lincoln. Doris and her husband founded another business in their home as Lakeview Senior’s Care Home. They worked together and poured their love and soul into the people they cared for until retirement. Everyone knew she was a fierce competitor, and her favorite past time was playing games with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and boasting when she won.

Doris is survived by her four children, Vernon Taylor and wife Debbie of Lincoln, Norman Taylor of Vero Beach, Florida, Phyllis Hanscom and husband James of Lincoln, and Robin McAllister of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. In addition, she has fifteen grandchildren, forty-two great grandchildren, and fifteen great great grandchildren, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she loved dearly. Doris was predeceased by her parents, husband, and daughter, Pamela Dill, as well as many other family members.

Graveside services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, November 11 at the Lincoln Cemetery with Rev. Tony Stewart and Pastor Jason Johnstone officiating.
