Obituary for Dean W. Mitchell

Sherman and Veazie – Dean W. Mitchell, 95, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Colonial Health Care in Lincoln. He was born December 3, 1924 in Sherman, the son of Fred and Lucy (Osgood) Mitchell.

Dean grew up in Sherman, where he worked at Mitchell Brother’s for 35 years. He served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was very proud of being a Veteran.

He loved his camp on Perry Pond and had many happy family times there. He enjoyed music and basketball and going to the tournaments, and also going to the auctions with Wally.

Dean was predeceased by his wives Colleen (Welch) and Elaine (Blaisdell), as well as his siblings, Robert, Clement, Raymond, Thurlow, Burton, Myron, and Carlene,

He is survived by four children, Eloise MacArthur and her husband Arthur, Martha Landry and her husband Raymond, Wallace Mitchell and his wife Barb, and Deanna Hare and her husband Raymond; grandchildren, David, Mark, Rachel, Renee, Melissa, Keith, Jeff, James, Crystal, Chuck and Laura; sixteen great grandchildren; four step children, Scott Thomas and his wife Jane, Kim Shaffer and her husband Doug, Alice Gonyar and her husband Robert, Pam Guerrette and her husband Ronnie; five grandchildren Matthew, Michael, Jeremy, Christopher, and Kaylie; and eleven great grandchildren; and a brother in law, Ernest Blaisdell.

The family expresses our sincere gratitude to Colonial Health Care and staff for their compassionate and loving care – we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

A Celebration of Dean’s Life will be held at a date to be announced later in the spring or summer.
