David L. Cyr
Brewer – David LeRoy Cyr 76, died unexpectedly on Sunday, October 27, 2019. He was born In Millinocket, Maine, on April 8, 1943, the son of Felix and Alma (Voisine) Cyr.
David graduated from St. Martin of Tours High School in 1961 and immediately started working at Great Northern Paper Company. He worked various positions before becoming a millwright. At the time of his retirement in 1998 he was a maintenance supervisor. He also served four years in the army reserves.
David enjoyed growing up in Millinocket and always enjoyed reminiscing about “the good old days”.
Anyone who heard these stories surely heard about his 1964 GTO “Goat.” Motorcycles were always a part of David’s life, from a Norton Commando to Honda and Kawasaki dirt bikes. He passed that love of motorcycles down to his son, grandson, and great grandkids.
David loved to travel. France, the USA, the Caribbean islands, and yearly trips to Florida were all locations for adventures and great stories. He enjoyed traveling with his neighbors Phil and Barb Joyce. Some of David and Kathy’s memorable trips were also with their son, daughter in-law, and Angela Berry.
In his retirement a good day included a trip to the Coach House and time with the “tree people”. A great time was grabbing a cat and taking a nap. He was very creative and spent many hours in his workshop creating unique birdhouses, whirligigs, and other wooden crafts.
David is survived by his wife Kathryn, a son Paul and his wife Michele, a grandson Antonio and his wife Bridget and their children, Tristan, Zoi and Hali. He is also survived by a brother Galen and his wife Rhonda, sisters-in-law Judy Cyr, Constance Smart and Roxana Trimmer and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Ronald.
A graveside service will be conducted 1 PM Saturday November 2, 2019 at Millinocket Cemetery with the Rev. Bruce Siket officiating.
