Colleen passed peacefully on December 5, 2022, in North Port, Florida, spending her final days with her son Reed.
Colleen was born on November 19, 1929, in Sherman Station, Maine to Edmund and Laura Sirois.
Growing up Colleen was a tap dancer, pianist, and high school basketball player in the days of girls’ “roving” teams. During high school, Colleen worked at the local drug store and ice cream parlor. She graduated from Sherman Mills High School and then continued her education, graduating from Husson College. She held full time secretarial positions from the time of graduation to her time of retirement in 1994. She was known and respected for her professionalism, knowledge, and congeniality. Her position, at time of retirement, was secretary for Great Northern Paper’s Townsite & Woodlands Property Division.
Colleen and husband Ronald’s favorite activities were spending time together at camp, fishing, bird hunting, and snow sledding. Colleen and Ronald loved to dance. She, Ronald, and their friends looked forward to the annual GNP Christmas party and the many Elks’ dances. Colleen kept her love of dancing to the end. Colleen spent over 50 happy years entertaining and making special memories for three generations of family and friends at her summer cottage on Deep Cove. She never lost her love and appreciation for the sunsets.
Colleen is predeceased by her parents; brothers “Boobie”, and Lawrence Sirois and wife Sara. Colleen is survived by her brother, Jerald Sirois and wife Brenda of Millinocket, ME; her son Reed and wife Karen, of North Port, FL; daughter Peggy Mullis Cummings of Millinocket, ME; grandchildren Jonathan Mullis and wife Sonia, of Lakewood Ranch, FL, Mark Mullis and wife Valerie of Scarborough, ME, Rachelle Cummings-Gerry and husband Chuck of Carrabassett, ME, Martin Cummings and partner Lisa Grant of Yarmouth, ME; Great grandchildren Isabella and Sophia Mullis, of Lakewood Ranch, FL, Boden Gerry of Carrabassett, ME.
Colleen lost her beloved husband and soulmate, Ronald, in 1976, after only 25 years of marriage. She remained strong and independent and is now at peace to join him.
Service and interment are planned for July 2023 and will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket. Messages of condolence may be expressed at www.lamsonfh.com.
