Obituary for Clement "Gig" D'Angelo
Millinocket – Clement “Gig” D’Angelo, 70, passed away Friday, May 1, 2020 at his home in Millinocket. He was born June 5, 1949 in Millinocket, the son of Clement and Nadine (DeVoe) D’Angelo.
Gig grew up in Millinocket, and was a graduate of Stearns High School, class of 1968. He served in the Army before returning to Millinocket and working at the mill. He was a very caring and honest man that spent time helping his father and other residents of Millinocket. Gig had a great love for animals, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle or his Harley Davidson truck – also known as “Gigs Rig” – and having friends over to the famous “Gig’s Clubhouse”. He loved helping others in need, and his many dogs, including his special ones Hemi, BJ, Bear, Keesha, and Kira. Gig travelled many places but especially loved Bike Week and NASCAR at Daytona Beach where he stayed in his condo. His second home was at the David Henry Lodge, Post #80 of the American Legion in Millinocket, where he was also member of the Riders Club, as well as belonging to the Knights of Columbus (4th degree), lifetime member of the DAV and DAV Auxiliary, where he was commander of both, also the Elks, NAHC, Harley Organization Group (HOG), Ducks Unlimited, the NRA, the Jaycee’s, and MMA Journeyman. Gig will be missed greatly by his family and his many, many friends.
He is survived by his fiancée Donna Pelkey; sister, Judith D’Angelo Bentson; his favorite uncle, James D'Angelo, nieces and nephews Charles Dickinson, Ashley Dickinson, Daniel and Natalee, Carrie Bernier and Steve, Maria Tiller and Brett Easton, and Daniel Cosman, Jr. and Alexis and Daniel III; cousins, James “Jimmy” D’Angelo, Barbara D’Angelo, Michael D’Angelo and Karen, Hollis Ward and his wife Linda; a special cousin Laurie Pelletier, and many other extended relatives and friends, too numerous to mention. He will be especially missed by his caretaker and cohort, Ron Preo, as well as Mark, Leslie, and Madison Wallace and Dale, Melissa, Shelby, and Ethan Pelkey. In addition to his parents, Gig was predeceased by his aunt, Shirley D’Angelo.
Gifts in memory of Gig may be sent to the Donald Henry Post #80 of the American Legion, 970 Central Street, Millinocket, ME 04462. Graveside services will be held later in the summer when the coronavirus restrictions have been eased. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
