Millinocket - Claudette H. (Pelkey) Preston, 87, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 19, 2022. She was the wife of Nathan C. Preston for 33 years, and he preceded her in death in 2005. She was born in Millinocket, Maine on September 25, 1934, the oldest daughter of the late David and Matilda (Willette) Pelkey of Millinocket, Maine. She attended St Martin of Tours Catholic School in Millinocket and was also a member of St. Martin of Tours Church.

Claudette lived and raised her four children in Millinocket and later moved to Ellsworth, Maine where she met her husband Nate. They enjoyed gardening, visiting antique shops, traveling, and eating at their favorite restaurants. While living in Ellsworth, Claudette pursued a career as a Visiting Angle Caregiver and was loved by so many of her clients and their families. She was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ellsworth, where she enjoyed attending Sunday mass and being involved in the community.
After retirement they moved back to Millinocket. Many things in life brought Claudette joy, but her greatest joy, was always the company and love of her family. Claudette always had a smile for everyone and if you were lucky, she would play a mean piano and sometimes even sing a song. She was loved and respected by all that knew her and will forever be missed.
She is survived by her four children, daughters Jeanie and her husband James Dramby of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Debra Ayotte of Winterport, Maine, her sons Allan, and wife Karen Ayotte, Dennis, and wife Julie Ayotte, both of Millinocket, Maine. She leaves six grandchildren, Kristoffer, Nicholas, and Michael Dramby, Matthew Ayotte, Nicole Rosebush, and Jamie Jacobs. Eight great-grandchildren Layla, Hawkins and Isla Dramby, Emma and Eric Ayotte, Joshua and Alyssa Rosebush and Alex Jacobs. Two special nieces, Edwina Wheaton and Cheryl Bouchard and many nephews that she dearly loved, and a special friend, Katie. She is also survived by her sister Theresa Martin of Mount Holly North Carolina and brother, David Pelkey, of Dover Maine.
Claudette is preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley McCluskey, and Dorothy Bouchard both of Millinocket Maine and brother Allison Pelkey of Centreville Virginia.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Colonial Health Care in Lincoln, Maine for the loving care our mother received and our appreciation to Beacon Hospice Care in Bangor Maine for the care and support given to our family.
