Obituary for Cheryl R. Maxwell

Lee - Cheryl Rae Maxwell passed away Monday, August 31, 2020, just shy of her 81st birthday. She was born September 5, 1939, to Kenneth and Muriel Grant, of Lincoln. She spent many years in the care of Harry and Evelyn Murchison, also of Lincoln. She graduated from Mattanawcook Academy, Class of 1957. She married Maynard Maxwell on July 20, 1957, recently celebrating their 63rd anniversary. Cheryl devoted her life to her husband, Maynard and raising their three sons.

An avid sports fan, Cheryl played high school basketball and softball and especially enjoyed watching her sons and grandchildren play on various teams. She also enjoyed reading, puzzles, traveling the USA and Canada in the family motorhome, spending time with friends and family, and working at Maxwell Farms, the family business. Cheryl also enjoyed skiing and gave lessons at the Mt. Jefferson ski area.

Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, Lorraine Grant; stepfather, Elwyn Spearin; and Harry and Evelyn Murchison. She is survived by her loving husband, Maynard; three sons, Kevin and his wife Ginger; Keith and his wife Kathy; Scott and his wife Janet; four sisters, Muriel Grindle, Beverly Pendleton, Sylvia Forte, Judith Lindquist, and brother, Robert Grant; seven grandchildren, Alexys Irwin and husband Brandon, Morgan Maxwell, Taryn Kocurek and husband Lloyd, Abbie Currie and husband Zac, Alyssa Maxwell, Devon Maxwell and Jordan Butler and husband Wyatt; three great grandchildren, Aaron and Kylie Kocurek and Blakely Butler, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visiting will be Friday Sept. 4th from 6-8 pm and the funeral will be Saturday Sept. 5th at 11 A.M., both at Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, followed by a graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lee. Celebration of Life will follow the service at Mallet Hall in Lee. Masks required.
