Obituary for Charles E. Violette

Millinocket- Charles E. Violette, 77, passed away Friday, June 22, 2018 at a Millinocket hospital. He was born December 21, 1940 in Greenville, the son of Woodrow A. and Phyllis R. (Bradford) Violette.
Charles grew up in Greenville, before moving with his family to Medway and East Millinocket. He was a graduate of Schenck High School, class of 1959. He took some classes and was qualified as an insurance sales agent, before working for a brief time as a police officer for the town of East Millinocket. Charles went to work at Great Northern Paper in the mid-1960’s, where he worked until his retirement in 1995 as a Paper Inspector in the Quality Control department of the mill. In his younger years, Charles enjoyed shooting archery, hunting, camping, skiing and skating. He was an avid reader, and always enjoyed reading his newspaper, and often had a book in his hand, even when he was watching TV. Charles will be remembered as a wonderful husband and great provider who loved his family. He will be greatly missed and loved by his wife, Susan, his children, and his grandson.
Charles is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan (Simon) Violette of Millinocket; two children, Charles W. Violette of Millinocket, and Julie M. Violette of East Millinocket; a grandson, John Burke of East Millinocket; a sister, Claire Ann Emerson of Los Angeles, California; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by a brother, William “Bill” Violette.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 P.M. Monday, July 2 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack Street, Millinocket. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 A.M. Tuesday, July 3 at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby Street, Millinocket with the Rev. Bruce Siket, pastor, presider. Interment will be at East Millinocket Cemetery.
