Obituary for Charlene Street

Millinocket -Charlene grew up in Bangor and graduated from Bangor High School in 1952. She married Raymond in 1965 and the family moved to Millinocket in 1967. Charlene had various jobs, but her favorite was being a manager at McDonald's when it first opened. She served as past President of the Katahdin Women's Club and was instrumental in the founding and success of the Sunny Santa program. She and her husband owned and operated the Mountain Village Coffee Shop from 1999 - 2011 serving townspeople and tourists alike. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and being at her camp on Cedar Lake. Charlene was an avid reader and was rarely without a book. She loved doing jigsaw puzzles and was an accomplished baker, indeed she was famous for her apple pizza!

She will be deeply missed by her family and remembered fondly by the lives that she touched, especially the many children she cared for throughout the years who knew her affectionately as "Ninnee."

She is survived by her husband of 54 years Raymond, brothers Arthur and Gerald and her children: Eric, Lynne and husband Keith, Roger and wife Dawn, Lisa and husband Jim, Denise and husband Mike as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, July 5 at the Millinocket Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Allen Hamlin, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in her name to the Nazarene Church of Millinocket or to a charity of your choice.
