Obituary for Bradley John Gonya

BREWER - Bradley John Gonya was born June 10, 1982 in Millinocket, Maine. He passed away unexpectedly August 2, 2020. Brad was a loving father, husband, son, brother, grandson, cousin, uncle and friend. His bright blue eyes would light up a room when he laughed, and his quick wit was unmatched. Brad had a creative spirit, with a passion for music and artistic talent that many could only dream of. He shared his love for music with anyone who would listen, and he left his audiences captivated with his skill. Brad graduated from Brewer High School in 2000, and had many friends he kept close through the years. He was a proud veteran, having served in the Maine Air National Guard for 12 years, and will forever be a Maineiac. He valued education and graduated with his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Maine in Communications. Brad’s personality was charming. He was kind, sweet, and funny. He cared for people in a way that oftentimes consumed him. He volunteered through the years with organizations such as the Shaw House and Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and always had a soft spot in his heart for kids. Although there were times when Brad lost his way, his love for his friends and family never wavered. He married his childhood sweetheart, Elizabeth Mills, and together they had a son Liam, who will carry a piece of Brad on in this world forever, and for that we are all so grateful. He is survived by his wife, Liz and son, Liam; His mother Elizabeth “Becky” McInnis; His father John Grava Gonya and bonus mom Carol Woodward; his Maternal Grandparents Dick & Alice McInnis; his sisters Krystal Newton and Kati Pelletier; nephews Tyson & Nathan Pelletier; niece Allaina Newton; brother Ryan Curtis.

Graveside services will be held 2 P.M. Sunday, August 9 at the Millinocket Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
