Obituary for Beverly Mingo
MILLINOCKET – Beverly Mingo, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 24, 2020. She was born October 2, 1933 in Millinocket, the daughter of Peter and Rena (Barnes) Russell.
Beverly graduated from Stearns High School in 1951 and Eastern Maine General Hospital School of X-Ray in 1953. She began working at the Millinocket Community Hospital when it opened in 1955. She was an X-ray technician for the first 20 years of her career and then worked as a Nuclear Medicine technologist until her retirement in 1991.
She was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church and an active member of the women's auxiliary. She loved her beach time at South Twin, and like all native Mainers, wished for more summer days to sit in the sun with her toes in the sand.
Beverly is survived by her four children: James Jr. and wife Cathy of Holden; Sandra Kelley and husband Tom of Fort Myers, FL; Lisa Shorey and husband Phil of Millinocket; and David of Port Edwards, WI. She is also survived by brother Bill Russell and wife Ann of Millinocket, brother Peter Russell and wife Leslie of Salem, NH; grandsons Timothy Shorey and wife Robin, Randy Shorey and wife Billie, Joseph Shorey and wife Elyse, Austin Kelley, Aaron Mingo, Alex Mingo and wife Tundi, Samuel Mingo and wife Elizabeth; and several great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband James, sister Jean, and granddaughter Heather.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Katahdin Nursing Home for their concern and care during her residency. Mom always said that they treated her awfully well. We know that same level of care was maintained right through to the end.
Funeral services will be held at a later date at the First Congregational Church in Millinocket, with committal to follow at the Millinocket Cemetery.
