Obituary for Betty L. Schick (Scott)

Lincoln – Betty L. Schick, 90, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born August 14, 1932, in Mattawamkeag, the daughter of Henry and Ella (Currier) Scott.

Betty grew up in Mattawamkeag and was a graduate of Mattawamkeag High School. She attended classes at Husson College. Betty was known throughout the Lincoln area as an organist, and played for many funerals, services at the Catholic Church, and was the organist at her church, the Lincoln Center Baptist Church, for many, many years, a job which she inherited from her mother-in-law – Pauline Peterson. A faithful and dedicated member of the church, she held many offices and positions throughout the years – clerk, treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and director of the Jr. Choir to name a few. Betty was involved with the Lincoln Historical Society and was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox. Though she complained about the late-night West Coast games, she still stayed up to watch them regularly. Betty did the bookwork and tracked the money for her husband’s position as Regional Distribution Manager for the Bangor Daily News. She loved Labrador Retrievers and had several as pets throughout the years. An active and well-known member of the community, Betty will be remembered by her family as an exceptionally good cook (though never good enough by her standards!), and a loving and devoted Christian wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by a son, Jeffrey E. Schick and lifelong partner Ramona Quill; two grandchildren, Jarret Schick and his wife Chelsea, and Stephanie Schick and her lifelong partner Zachary Rec; three great grandchildren, Orran, Anders, and Aldrik; a sister, Darlene Oakes and her husband Bob; nieces and nephews, Lori and Ron Carver, Robin and Steve Rambone, great nieces and nephews Ronnie, Michael, Allison, Ashley, and Megan; and numerous cousins, extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband Roger M. Schick, a nephew, Scott Oakes, and her canine companion Lukie.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 PM Tuesday, October 4 at the Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Wednesday, October 5 at the Lincoln Center Baptist Church, 517 Military Road, Lincoln with Rev. Rusty Blessard, pastor, presider. Interment will be at the Mattawamkeag Cemetery.
