Obituary for Bernard "Bernie" Angotti

Millinocket-Bernard “Bernie” R. Angotti 81, died in hospice care at home after years of living with cancer on March 8, 2022. He was born on October 9, 1940, in Millinocket, Maine, the son of Bruno and Marie (Madore) Angotti.
Bernie was a graduate of Stearns High School. After graduation, he enlisted and served in the United States Army. He was stationed overseas in Korea. Upon completing his commitment to service, he returned to his hometown and worked for Great Northern Paper Company. He became a master’s electrician and worked for forty-two years when he semi-retired, later working for several more years for Border Electric, before finally retiring.
In his free time Bernie loved hiking in Baxter State Park with his buddies and relatives. He climbed Katahdin reaching the summit from the majority of trails. He enjoyed any activity that allowed him to be outside. He was a bird and tree aficionado who thrived on sharing his passion for the great outdoors. His father taught him the art and love of gardening. He found peace and tranquility in his backyard where he planted his garden and built a pergola along with a terrace which became a sanctuary overlooking Millinocket Stream.
Time spent with family and friends playing cribbage and pitch, teasing and joking all the while, was his definition of a good time. In his later years, he perfected making a traditional, authentic, Italian red spaghetti sauce, which he received such satisfaction in cooking it for others, not to mention, providing the excuse to sip a fine Chianti. He would often say, “Every day is a good day to make the sauce!”
Bernie is survived by his loving and devoted wife Brenda Angotti (Plourde) of 55 years; son, Andrew, and his daughters, Illyana and Gabrielle Dotson; daughter, Janet and husband Jason Daigle, and their sons, Joshua and Jordan Daigle. He is also survived by two of his brothers, Franklin (Anita) Angotti; Robert (Linda) Angotti; sisters-in-law, Jody (Richard’s wife), Shirley (Will’s wife); brothers-in-law, George Hetherington (JoAnn’s husband) and Dominic Macri (Jean’s husband); and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and godchildren.
He was predeceased by daughter-in-law, Andrea; brothers, John (Dola) Angotti; Randolph (Dolly) Angotti; Will, and Richard; sisters, Rita (Francis) McMahon; Corinne (Les) Johnson; Beverly (Francis) Luke; JoAnn Hetherington, Jean Macri, and Brenda Brunette.
