Millinocket - Barbara J. Pulkkinen (Thorne) triumphantly entered her eternal home on May 11, 2020.
She was born in Houlton, the daughter of the late L. Paul and Arabelle Thorne (Bryant).
She retired from Bangor Savings Bank, where she worked for many years to enjoy time at camp “Pulkkinen Paradise” with the love of her life “Dick”, her family, and friends. She loved to ride her snowsled and often took rides on the trails with her husband and friends. She kept a magical garden and a home that was loved by many. Barbie loved to stay busy and write in her journal. She enjoyed knitting and crafting, always making socks for her family and other thoughtful gifts. Barbie loved and cherished her family and friends. Her and Dick were the rock of their family and made everyone feel loved and welcome. She loved sports, an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, and always routed for the local high school teams. She was a devout Catholic and a long time parishioner of St. Martins.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Richard “Dick” Pulkkinen, her sons Michael “Yankee” Pulkkinen, and Barnum “Barry” Pulkkinen.
She is survived by her children Karen and husband Curtis Gaudet of Bloomfield, CT., Becky and husband Donald “Magoo” McLaughlin of Verona Island, ME., and Paul and wife Gwen Pulkkinen of Snook, TX, and a daughter-in-law Tammy Pulkkinen of Carlos, TX. She was most proud of her grandchildren, Cassandra Webber Beal and her partner Rich, Melissa Gaudet, Curtis Gaudet Jr., David McLaughlin, Shawn Pulkkinen and partner Ally, Angela Gaudet, Willie McLaughlin, Chase Pulkkinen, Chelsey Marley, Dakota Vajdak, and Bobbie-Joe Olexey. She is also survived by many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Barbie will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved her. She had a gift of touching your heart and life in a special way. Her family sends a heartfelt thank you to the folks at Katahdin Health Care for their love and dedication in caring for Barbie. She loved them all like family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, July 17, 2020 at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Martin of Tours, 19 Colby Street, Millinocket, with the Rev. Bruce Siket, pastor, presider. Gifts in memory of Barbara may be sent to Katahdin Health Care, 22 Walnut Street, Millinocket, ME 04462. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
