Howland – Avon V. Stanley, 87, went to be with his Lord on Friday, July 3, 2020. He was born April 9, 1933 in Howland, the son of Clarence and Jessie (Granville) Stanley.
Avon loved his Lord, and often spent much of his mornings reading his Bible and praying, and often sharing his faith with others. He enjoyed following sports, especially the Boston Red Sox and the Chicago Cubs. A favorite pastime was spending time at his camp on Cold Stream Pond where he would go fishing, even though he seldom caught anything! He spent many decades working at Great Northern Paper Company before his retirement.
Avon is survived by his wife of 69 years, Clarice A. (Giles) Stanley; eight children, Greg Stanley and his wife Susanne, Keith Stanley and his wife Donna, Barbara Stanley, Brenda Hanson and her husband Rodney, Blandine Dvilinsky and her husband Robert, Avon Stanley, Jr. and his wife Melanie, Karen Paul and her husband Donald, and Jessica Dugans and her husband Chip; eighteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Michael Stanley, as well as Michael’s wife, Bonnie, Avon’s daughter in law.
Due to pandemic limitations, funeral services will be private, with interment at the Howland Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, Lincoln.
