Millinocket - Arnold G. Charette, 83, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at a Millinocket hospital. He was born May 9, 1935 in Fort Kent, the son of Victore and Dora (Vaillancourt) Charette.
Arnold grew up in Fort Kent, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He raised his family in Millinocket, where he worked at the Millinocket Foundry for 29 years, retiring in the mid 1990’s. Arnold was married to Jane (Caron) Charette for 59 years until her death in 2017. Arnold and Jane spent many happy hours together going for walks around town and long rides. Arnold enjoyed anything to do with nature, and took many photographs in the woods of beautiful scenery and wildlife. More than anything though, he loved his family and following the activities of his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by four children, Andre Charette and his wife Harriet of Millinocket, Linda Charette Longo of Stanford, Connecticut, Donna Charette of Millinocket, and Gregory Charette and his wife Carol of Millinocket; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three siblings, Maurice Charette, Noella Audette, and Rinette Fauchon; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents and his wife, Arnold was predeceased by a grandson, Marcus Charette, and several siblings.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Sweet Seniors in East Millinocket, the staff at Millinocket Regional Hospital, the caregivers from Hospice, and others who went above and beyond in their care for Arnold and give him, and the family, peace during this period of transition.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in the springtime, with interment at Millinocket Cemetery with military honors. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
