Obituary

MILLINOCKET –Alfred Goodwin (Goody) Bradbury Sr. joined his wife after a long battle with dementia. Alfred was born in Millinocket in 1920 to John James Bradbury and Susannah Parson, both of Newfoundland. After graduating in 1940 from Stearns High School, he obtained a job at Portland Ship Yard. He then enlisted in the Army Air Corp in December 30, 1941 serving six years.
He married Eileen Dewitt and together they built their family home and raised three children. Alfred worked at the Great Northern paper mill for over 35 years and retired at the age of 60.
Alfred was an avid hunter, fisherman, camper and loved being in the outdoors. He and his wife traveled extensively, but their favorite place was Alaska where Alfred was made and honorary tribe member. He also enjoyed writing several books, wood carving, making snowshoes, canoes, furniture and toys. He also enjoyed reading and read every western in the library at least once.
Alfred is predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Eileen Louise Dewitt, his son Alfred Goodwin (Ted) Bradbury Jr. His brothers Christopher, Ross, John and Sylanus. Sisters Gladys Ferguson, Marion, Grace Evers and Susie. One grandchild, Justin and one great-grandchild, Anabelle.
He is survived by his daughter Susan and her husband Dennis Martin of Millinocket and their two daughters Kiley and her husband Jason Rodrigues of Rhode Island and their children, Olivia, Emma-James, Owen, Ezme, Oliver and Everly. Ryann Martin and her husband, Jeffrey Gordon of Millinocket and their children Tyson and Taelyn. Son Paul of Millinocket and his son Brandon and grandchildren Meadow and Riven. Daughter in law Terrylyn and children Kristen and husband Roy Blenkhorn, children Wesley and Caleb, Melanie and husband Kevin Osnoe and Miles, along with many Nieces and Nephews.
Graveside services will be held 3 PM Saturday, August 15 at the Millinocket Cemetery, where both Alfred and Eileen will be laid to rest.
Gifts in memory of Goodie would be greatly appreciated if given to the Katahdin Support Group, P.O. Box 374, Millinocket, ME 04462. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
